yakutat alaska.
i'm staying, scratch that, working at a bed and breakfast. on yakutat bay. looking at the mainland, which is mountains completely covered with snow. on a clear day i can see them perfectly. on a snowy day, i look for other things to photograph. and currently i think my camera's memory card has a bug, so here's some photos from today from a different card.
also, something strange happened today. well first i'll say that bald eagles are fairly common here, and i hear them calling and see them flying over the house and in the trees surrounding the house every day. but there was one today that sat out on the island for a good part of the afternoon low tide.
and after awhile i thought, hmm, that's strange, i don't usually see them just hanging out on the ground. later on i went outside to go to the post office and check for air freight at the airport, and across the street, i saw this...
oh my god, how cool and close up i thought. and then i came back from my trips, and lo and behold...the eagle was sitting on the snowbank right outside my house. so i got a good photo of him / her. for all you bird lovers out there. or even non-bird lovers. these animals are SO COOL.
